Year End report 2012-2013

YEAR END SUMMARY – 2012-2013

It has been a busy year activity-wise for the Network, from our fall breakfast presentation to the Youth Justice Ontario executive group to our spring conference “Making Connections: Mental Health, Addictions & Youth Justice” and most recently, the release of our new Network logo, the committee continues to be active, in keeping with our terms of reference. Our member agencies have also been busy with a variety of community initiatives including participation in the Ottawa Gang Symposium this past fall. It is this kind of collaborative effort in the Ottawa community that affords us opportunities to effectively plan and respond to the community in ways that best meet the needs of our clients and their families. As we move forward in the fall, we will be reviewing our terms of reference, membership and developing a work plan for the upcoming year.

Some new faces at this year’s meetings included Matt Beutel, United Way: Turning Lives Around and Vicky Laforge, Justin Holness and Kris Measwasige from the Wabano Centre. Marnie Potter (YouthNet), Jessica Charron (John Howard Society) and Natalie Elliot (Operation Come Home) have also joined us at meetings. Michael Justinich has continued his participation in Network activities & meetings in his role with the Children’s Aid Society. A review of the Network membership is scheduled for this fall and this will afford us the opportunity to ensure a wider representation from our community partners.
